Since childhood, Ksenija shared a passion for entomology with her uncle. Together, they studied butterflies, building an extensive collection of specimens and literature from around the world.

While studying at the Academy of Arts in Lviv, Ukraine, Ksenija fell in love with vytsinanka—a traditional Belarusian art form of intricate paper-cutting using folded paper and scissors. Through her artistic exploration, she moved beyond traditional boundaries, merging this technique with volume, color, multi-layered collage, and paper-tearing to create three-dimensional works.

Today, as a third-generation artist, Ksenija continues both her family’s creative lineage and her lifelong fascination with butterflies. Now living on Bowen Island, she preserves her collection of insects and books in loving memory of her uncle.
